Pilates V-Bed with Evelyn Myers
This article about the Pilates V-Bed that also featured Joe Pilates’ cat, Musche, was published in a few different newspapers in the 1930s, all with slightly different captions. The most interesting part besides the info about Joe’s cat, is that this appears to be the same V-Bed that Evelyn Myers posed in during the same time period. It also suggests that Joe was inspired to invent the V-Bed after seeing his cat sleeping.

Until now, we knew of this photo that mentioned Evelyn Myers name, published in the US in the 1930s. Now, through my extensive research I have found a new example of the same photo that was also during the same time in French, and with a different caption. I have included an image with the English transition as well.
Both articles are from the early 1930s, which tells us that Joe was trying to market this bed internationally about 15-20 years before he began marketing the Bednasium.
It’s really interesting to read the two different captions under the photo, especially the French caption that points out, “the bed has no box spring.”
