The Pilates Bednasium Photo Series 1958 “The Rotor with Shirt” Print
A reproduction print of a rare 1958 photograph of Joe Pilates cueing Nedda Casei during the Rotor movement on the Bednasium. In this image, Joe is wearing a shirt as he observes and guides Nedda through the exercise. The photograph offers a valuable glimpse into Joe Pilates’ hands-on teaching style and the use of the Bednasium in his original studio.
This photograph was taken by Joe Costa for New York Mirror Magazine. In 2023, Elaine Ewing acquired a set of 56 original negatives from the archive of The New York Daily Mirror, the majority of which had never previously been published.
