The Pilates Bednasium Series 1958 “Airplane” Print
New Release. A reproduction print of a rare 1958 photograph of Nedda Casei performing the Airplane exercise on the Bednasium, with her feet secured in the springs. The photograph documents the distinctive use of springs and body positioning in the early Pilates method and provides a rare visual record of an exercise performed on Joe Pilates’ Bednasium.
This photograph was taken by Joe Costa for New York Mirror Magazine. In 2023, Elaine Ewing acquired a set of 56 original negatives from the archive of The New York Daily Mirror, the majority of which had never previously been published.
